Parts of Speech are categories that describe the role a word plays in a sentence.
In English, there are traditionally eight main parts of speech:
1. Nouns: Words that name people, places, things, or ideas (e.g., dog, city, love).
2. Pronouns: Words that replace nouns (e.g., he, she, it).
3. Verbs: Words that express actions or states of being (e.g., run, is).
4. Adjectives: Words that describe nouns (e.g., happy, blue).
5. Adverbs: Words that modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs (e.g., quickly, very).
6. Prepositions: Words that show relationships between nouns or pronouns and other words in a sentence (e.g., in, on, at).
7. Conjunctions: Words that connect words, phrases, or clauses (e.g., and, but, or).
8. Interjections: Words that express strong emotions or sudden bursts of feeling (e.g., wow, ouch).
